Here are some of the great events happening in Queens Park this April

It's April. Right on the cusp of summer. You could be forgiven for lighting the BBQ on a decent day. It's also a month with an extra long weekend, with the easter public holidays falling on the Friday 19th and Monday 22nd. That's four full days off work or six weeks if you're at school or uni.

Given the four day long bank holiday weekend this month, we thought we'd bring you the latest events happening throughout April in a series of special blog posts. This time it's the turn of the "family friendly" area of Queens Park in London.

Here's what's planned in Queens Park throughout April:

1. Sofar Sounds | Queens Park

The intimate, secretive and worldwide popup gig organisation Sofar is coming to Queens Park on Monday 29th April. From their website, Sofar describes itself as - "A Sofar gig is an intimate show held in an unique venue, like someone's living room or an antique shop. It typically features three artists, playing four songs each. Every lineup is specially curated to give our audiences a diverse show."

The thing about this event is that the exact details of location aren't revealed until a day before, it's all about adding to the organised chaos of course - just to spice things up at little.

It is a ticketed event that has strict guidelines on no texting or talking during the gig and guests must arrive at the location between 7:30pm and 8pm.

You can check out more information on their website

2. Queens Park Farmers Market

Reaching almost legendary status among Queens Park locals, the Queens Park Farmers Market has been running for a good number of years now. Situated on the Salusbury Road the market packs a serious punch of fresh fruit and veg, cheese, meats and seasonal specials. The market runs every Sunday between 10am and 2pm. A perfect place for gathering all the essentials and more for that Sunday Roast you may be cooking the family later in the day.

3. Art Classes at Hugos

Ever fancied yourself as a wannabee artist or are looking to improve and mingle with fellow artists? Maybe you just want to dip into something new. Well look no futher than Hugos Queens Park. Every Tuesday at 4pm and 5pm art classes kick of at the venue on 25 Lonsdale Road, just off the Salusbury Road in the heart of Queens Park. The classes cost £20 but rest assured, everything you'll need for the class is included. Give it a try, you never know, you could be the next Picasso!
